Test Positive for HPV – Now What?

Discovering you have HPV may catch you off guard but having the facts can bring peace of mind. It’s estimated that 4 out of 5 individuals will contract HPV at some point in their lives. Receiving the HPV tests may make us feel relieved but receiving a positive HPV result can come as a shock.

If you test positive for HPV please remember that you’re not alone. Currently, 80 million people in the US have HPV. It’s crucial to understand that in most cases, the virus will get eradicated by your immune system before any health issues arise. But if the virus remains in your system, the risk of cancer may increase, especially if your immune system is compromised.

What is HPV?

HPV (human papillomavirus) is a virus with over 100 strains. The majority of HPV strains are not linked to cancer.

The virus is present on the skin and spreads through intimate genital contact. Some strains of HPV can cause genital warts in both men and women. These usually appear several months after exposure. We can treat genital warts with medication or surgery. If left untreated, they may heal spontaneously or increase in size and quantity.

High-risk strains of HPV can lead to numerous types of cancer, affecting the cervix, vulva, and anus.  Almost all cases of cervical cancer are the result of the HPV virus. Men can also develop penile, anal, and head and neck cancers from high-risk strains of HPV.

HPV Cancer Risk?

Experts emphasize that if you have HPV, the risk of cancer is minor but should get addressed. Ensure that you follow up with your physician regarding the necessary measures and keep things in perspective. If you have HPV, there’s a high probability that it will not be a long-term problem since your immune system will combat the virus. Moreover, most cases of HPV infections will vanish within two years.

Of the millions of HPV cases detected each year, only a small percentage result in cancer, with most of these being cervical cancer. Unfortunately, routine screening is not standard for other HPV-related cancers since they are rare and get discovered when a lump develops.

There is no specific medicine for HPV virus, and it is especially important to boost your immune system since your own immune cells can engulf HPV virus cells. If for some reason your body is unable to fight the virus and it stays in your system, the risk of developing cancer increases. This is the reason why many doctors do not prescribe medication to their patients after HPV infection. Therefore, boosting your immune system is an important way to turn around HPV.

For people with poor immunity, in addition to exercise and regular rest in daily life as often advised by doctors, it is also important to pay attention to a balanced diet with targeted nutritional supplements.

What nutrients can help improve immunity?

1.Selenium(as L-Selenomethionine)

Selenium is a trace element, malt selenium is the active carrier of selenium transformation by wheat, through the absorption and transformation of the germination process, selenium is enriched in amino acids, proteins and other molecules contained in the malt, which is better absorbed and more active. It digests and reduces peroxide in the entire cytoplasmic metabolic activity of the body, protects, repairs and activates cells, protects the cell membrane structure from oxidative damage, thus enhancing the body's immunity and resisting viral invasion. Sunulos®Malt Selenium Agnus Castus capsules, the malt selenium inside helps improve the antioxidant capacity of the uterus, scavenge free radicals, improve the uterus' antiviral capacity and accelerate HPV conversion.

2.Probiotics

Probiotics are increasingly recognized as a key factor in the development and progression of other malignancies, including colorectal cancer. There is evidence that the vaginal microbiome plays an important role in the persistence or regression of HPV infection. Lactobacillus rhamnosus, Lactobacillus royi and Lactobacillus coelicolor have been shown to be particularly beneficial in supporting a healthy vaginal flora, Sunulos® Probiotics For Women 60 Capsules are rich in these three beneficial probiotics.

3.Beta-carotene

It has been clinically proven that dietary intake of beta-carotene is closely associated with a lower risk of cervical cancer, and women with higher intake of beta-carotene seem to have less than half the risk. beta-carotene, when it enters the body, is converted into vitamin A, which is important for boosting the immune system. this first line of defense can stop bacteria and viruses from invading the body and prevent cervical cancer. In addition, after beta-carotene is converted into vitamin A and then synthesized with iron, it can also promote blood circulation and improve cold hands and feet and anemia.
